Review: Sens

January 25, 2015 by Angie Sommer 1 Comment

Sens! There are a lot of really nice (and not cheap) restaurants downtown for all the fancy business peoples, and Sens is one of my faves. I’ve been many times over the years, and while I recall a dip in the quality of food and service for some time (or maybe it was just an off day? I’m not sure), my last visit for lunch was really, really good.

Slow Roasted Organic Chicken Breast ($17)

The venue can’t be beat — the facility is a huge, beautifully decorated space overlooking the Ferry Building across the street, with bay and associated bridge behind. The restaurant itself is very elegant with exposed wood ceiling beams and stone-clad columns and arches. There’s a bar with a good (and very popular) happy hour, and a large covered patio adjacent an outdoor east-facing balcony with the same beautiful view.

(Half of the) Fattoush Salad ($10)

Sens' Caesar Salad ($9)

The food is upscale Mediterranean, with things like a lamb burger, chicken lavash wrap, and paella for lunch. I’ve had many good visits in the past, and experienced their ever-evolving menu at various stages, but my lunch last week was especially stellar.

Side of Falafel with Tzatziki ($5)

In addition to the service being impeccable that day, every bite of food was delicious. I can’t wait until I return!
